Understanding the Streams of the Visitor Visa (Subclass 600)

• You must be outside Australia when applying and when the decision is made (for outside Australia applications).
• When applying from within Australia, if you hold another visa like Student Visa or Temporary Graduate Visa that is expiring and wish to stay longer, this visa may suit you.
• You must be in Australia when applying and when the decision is made (for inside Australia applications).

Business Visitor Stream:

Purpose: For attending business meetings, conferences, or negotiating contracts.

Stay Duration: Up to 3 months.

Cost: AUD $195

Key Features:

• Allows short visits for business purposes but does not permit employment or selling goods/services.
• Multiple or single entries may be granted.

Sponsored Family Stream:

Purpose: For visiting family members who sponsor your stay.

Stay Duration: Up to 12 months

Cost: AUD $195. Your sponsor may need to pay a security bond in some cases.

Key Features:

• Requires sponsorship by an eligible Australian citizen or permanent resident.
• You must be outside Australia when applying and when the decision is made.

Frequent Traveller Stream:

Purpose: For frequent visitors from eligible countries, for tourism or business.

Stay Duration: Up to 3 months per visit, with a visa validity of up to 10 years.

Cost: AUD $1435

Key Features:

• Tailored for travelers from countries such as China, Brunei, Indonesia, and Malaysia.
• Ideal for frequent travelers who need long-term validity with short stays.

Approved Destination Status Stream:

Purpose: For citizens of China travelling as part of an organized tour group.

Stay Duration: Determined by the visa grant.

Cost: AUD $195

Key Features:

• Requires travel through an approved tour agent.
• You must remain with the tour group during your visit.
